§ 75. Dame Joan Vickersasked the Minister of Labour whether he will take steps to prevent Sikhs who wish to wear turbans and beards from being discriminated against in employment.
§ Mr. Hattersley:Very few cases of such discrimination have been brought to my notice. I would expect employers to look sympathetically on the outward observances of the Sikh religion and not to use these observances as grounds for refusing employment without clear justification. I am keeping the position under review.
