§ 38. Mr. Goodhartasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to strengthen the immigration service in 1968–69.
§ Mr. Callaghan:In pursuance of the Government's decision not to allow the Civil Service to increase, I shall have difficulty in providing enough officers to cope with the increasing needs, and some delay in dealing with passengers is inevitable, although I shall do my best to minimise it by adjusting staffs.
