§ Mr. Hannanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will indicate the present state of the Teachers' Superannuation Fund.
§ Mr. Ross:The Report by the Government Actuary on the Teachers' Superannuation Scheme in Scotland for the period 1956–61 disclosed a balance sheet deficiency at 31st March, 1961 of £15.4 million and certified that to make this good supplementary contributions at the rate of two per cent. were required from employers from 1st April, 1966. These supplementary contributions are being paid. An actuarial inquiry in respect of the quinquennium ending 31st March, 1966 is now in hand.
