§ 85. Mr. Hornbyasked the Minister of Transport whether she has yet received from the Southern Region of British Railways the report on the outcome of their special investigation into the condition of the track and on the adequacy or otherwise of their maintenance arrangements; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mrs. Castle:The special investigation into the Southern Region track by the British Railways Board was for their own purposes since responsibility for the condition of the track and for its maintenance lies with the Board. Certain specific investigations are being made for the Chief Inspecting Officer of Railways in connection with the accident at Hither Green, and I would ask the hon. Member to await this Report which will be published.
