Mr. Hannan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what organisations are represented on the Scottish Council of Research in Education; what is their annual income; and from what fund it comes.

Mr. Ross:

The Council is an independent body. According to its Annual Report for the year 1966–67, the following is the information for which my hon. Friend asked.

The following organisations are represented on Council:

Association of Counties of Cities in Scotland 4
Educational Institute of Scotland 8
Association of Directors of Education in Scotland 5
Scottish Council for the Training of Teachers 2
Staffs of Colleges of Education 8
Universities of Scotland 5
Scottish Branch of British Psychological Society 2
Association of School Medical Officers of Scotland 2

In addition the Council has 6 co-opted members and 3 assessors from the Scottish Education Department.

In the Council's financial year to 15th May, 1967 its income amounted to £31,393, made up by grants from the following bodies:
