§ Mr. Lomasasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether the recently announced economy measures will mean the deferment of the building of a new school at Newsome in Huddersfield.
§ Miss BaconI assume that my hon. Friend is referring to the secondary school project for the Newsome area. This has not yet been included in any approved programme. Owing to the withdrawal of the capital allocations for Raising the School Leaving Age for 1968–69 and 1969–70 and the addition of £7 million to each of those programmes, it is necessary to review the proposals for starts in those years. Later years will also be affected. Until authorities' revised proposals have been received and considered I cannot comment on the effect on individual projects.
