HC Deb 07 February 1968 vol 758 c151W
136. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Minister of Transport how much money it is estimated will be spent in total in the maintenance of roads, other than trunk roads, in Gloucestershire for 1967–68, 1968–69, and 1969–70, respectively.

Mr. Swingler:

The maintenance of non-trunk roads is the responsibility of local highway authorities of which, in Gloucestershire, there are eleven.

We have no recent estimates for the expenditure likely to be incurred by these authorities in 1967–68. For the forthcoming two years it is for the local authorities to decide how much they will spend, in the light of the advice being given to them both by my right hon. Friend and by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government.
