§ Mrs. Ewingasked the Minister of Transport whether she will give an assurance that she will refrain from taking action which will have the effect of making the £230 million capital debt of the London Transport Board and the extra annual running loss of £6 million a charge on the national Exchequer.
§ Mr. SwinglerThe Exchequer is already meeting the whole of the cost of servicing the capital debt of the London Transport Board and the additional operating losses incurred by the Board. The precise terms on which the Greater London Council will take over responsibility for London Transport remain to be determined.
