§ The Prime MinisterOur objective is membership of the Communities and, as the House knows, we are progressively examining various fields of policy and Statute Law to see where appropriate changes can be made. But we must have404W first regard to our present economic interests and, so long as we are denied the advantages and responsibilities of membership, we cannot be committed to adopting any and every particular policy agreed by the European Economic Community.
