§ Sir C. Osborneasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many murders are known to the police in 1968 to the latest convenient date, and for the same period for the year prior to the death penalty being abolished, taking the same definition of murder for both years.
§ Mr. Elystan MorganIt is the established practice to adjust the statistics of offences of murder known to the police to exclude offences initially recorded as murder but later found not to be murder, and these figures are compiled for complete years only. My right hon. Friend hopes to be able to give the 1968 figures next May.
