§ Mr. Edward ShortThe Answer to the first part of the Question contains a number of figures which, with permission, I will circulate in the OFFICIAL REPORT. To the many representations that I have received from Members of Parliament and others about expenditure by local authorities on education I have replied that the Rate Support Grant Order, 1968, approved by the House on 9th December provides for an increase in real terms of £55 million or 3¾ per cent. between this year and next.
