§ Mr. Laneasked the Prime Minister what steps he is taking to complete the education volume of the Official History of the Second World War.
§ The Prime MinisterNone. When Dr. Sophia Weitzman died in 1965 she had accumulated a quantity of material, but since her draft was not in a form suitable for publication the decision was taken to abandon the volume. The Department of Education and Science are holding the material and are prepared to make it available for inspection and use by serious students. Under the Thirty-Year rule the official records on which Dr. Weitzman worked will be open to public inspection within the next few years.
