Mr. Rankinasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that the majority of the British Overseas Airways Corporation's world-wide routes serve Scotland through connections with British European Airways who operate from Glasgow; and if he will give an assurance that there will be no delays in reaching decisions on approvals for the development necessary at the city's airport to cater safely and expeditiously for this traffic.
§ Mr. William RodgersI take my hon. Friend's point and, subject to the responsibilities of my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for planning matters, we will support in principle any development of Glasgow Airport necessary to cater for the requirements of British European Airways.
