Mr. Oakes

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what was the total number of cases dealt with in the Liverpool and Manchester Crown Courts; and in how many of these cases the defendants were legally aided in each of the years 1965, 1966 and 1967;

(2) what was the total number of cases dealt with in courts of quarter sessions in England and Wales; and in how many of these cases the defendants were legally aided in each of the years 1965, 1966 and 1967.
