Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the Secretray of State for Defence what facilities will be available for the use of other Departments of Government at Royal Air Force Station, Ballykelly, after its closure; and what applications he is seeking for the use of them.

Mr. Boyden

Following are the main facilities:

Airfield

Runways, control tower and operations block, bulk fuel installations, and eight aircraft hangars with attached workshops.

Technical

Motor transport garages, fuel installations and workshops.

Storage

Two buildings (40,000 sq. ft.) and some smaller buildings.

Office etc. accommodation

An office block, several smaller offices, and buildings suitable for technical or other training.

Living accommodation

An officers' mess to accommodate 90 and a sergeants' mess to accommodate about 110. Airmen's single accom- reserves and give their strengths by categories as estimated for 1969, 1971, 1973 and 1975.

Dr. David Owen

The information is as follows:

modation for 500, with kitchens and dining halls. There are 103 officers and 421 airmen's married quarters.
