HC Deb 09 December 1968 vol 775 c15W
72. Sir B. Janner

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, in view of developments over recent years whereby women make use of facilities for dyeing or tinting their hair or wearing wigs, why he requires the colour of a woman's hair to be stated on her passport; and whether he will now remove this obligation.

Mr. Whitlock

A decision was recently taken to omit any reference to colour of hair when the United Kingdom passport is next revised. In the meantime the Passport Office and passport issuing authorities abroad will not insist upon this information being supplied. This change will also be applicable to men.
