Mr. Handingasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT figures showing the number of maintained nursery schools and nursery classes, the number of children enrolled, and the number of teachers in this service for each year since 1945 up to the latest year for which figures are available.

Comparable figures are not available for this period 39W in respect of nursery classes in maintained primary schools but in the past three years such classes have included full-time pupils as follows, in addition to part-time pupils:
