HC Deb 09 December 1968 vol 775 c47W
Mrs. Lena Jeger

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland which regulations restrict employment to persons of particular birth, citizenship, nationality, descent or residence in the National Galleries of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland and the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland.

Mr. Ross

None, but I am aware that these institutions only recruit as permanent members of their staff people who would be eligible under the nationality rules governing permanent recruitment to the home Civil Service. The rules do not impede the recruitment to these institutions of British citizens born in other countries who are legally resident here.

Research into the possibilities of lowering the costs of underground electric cables is being carried on in various countries. The Scottish Electricity Boards are associated with the research carried out under the auspices of the Electricity Council and the Central Electricity Generating Board.
