HC Deb 09 December 1968 vol 775 c1W
55. Dr. Winstanley

asked the Minister of Transport whether an estimate has now been made of the cost of infilling the Lower Peak Forest Canal; and whether it has yet been decided by whom the cost of infilling will be borne.

Mr. Carmichael

No. As the hon. Member for Southgate (Mr. Berry) was told on 11th November, infilling is only one of several possible ways of dealing with this canal. The Waterways Board are at present considering these in consultation with the riparian local authorities. No decisions of any kind have yet been taken.—[Vol. 777, c. 26–7.]
