Jannerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many qualified scientists and engineers are employed on the staff of his Department; and whether, in view of the need to ensure that the Treasury is aware of, and able to evaluate, recent developments in the scientific, engineering and technological fields, he will increase this staff in the near future.
§ Mr. DiamondNo members of the scientific and engineering classes of the Civil Service are employed in the Treasury, which looks to other Government Departments to provide advice in these fields when required.
