§ 45. Mr. Awdryasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what plans he has to alter the regulations affecting the provision of school transport in rural areas; and what proposals he has to amend the statutory distances below which no transport is provided by 527W local authorities for children to get to school.
§ Miss BaconI make no regulations about the provision of school transport. As I have said in reply to recent similar questions, local education authorities have adequate discretionary powers to enable them to provide transport for journeys shorter than the statutory walking distances if this is justified by local circumstances.
