§ 37. Mr. Macdonaldasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps he is taking to ensure that the scheme for introducing comprehensive education in the London Borough of Bromley, which was drawn up by the previous council and approved by his predecessor, is not held back by the present council.
§ Miss BaconThe local education authority have informed me that they do not intend to withdraw or amend the plan which was approved in principle last March; they have, however, found it necessary to review the interim arrangements for changes in the method of selection. I expect to hear further from them when local discussions are complete.
§ 73. Mr. Goodhartasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what additional funds will be made available to the London Borough of Bromley so that the scheme for the reorganisation of secondary education may be implemented without undue difficulty.
§ Miss BaconI have authorised the one building project which the Authority claimed was vital to the launching of their reorganisation scheme. If their reconsideration of some parts of the scheme leads to a re-formulation of what is needed by way of buildings, I shall be prepared to consider fresh proposals.
