§ Mr. G. Elfed Daviesasked the Secretary of State for Wales what proposals he has for improving road communications to and from the Rhondda Valley.
§ Mr. George ThomasThe A470 trunk road will be improved to dual carriageway standard between Tongwynlais and Abercynon. The improvement will be carried out in three stages and work on the first, between Tongwynlais and Nantgarw, will start shortly.
Principal roads are the responsibility of local highway authorities, but I have agreed to consider for grant two travel to-work schemes on the A4058 near Pontypridd, and work on these should start by 1970–71. Work on the Llantrisant by-pass on A4119 is nearing completion.
