HC Deb 04 December 1968 vol 774 c479W
Mrs. Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many places are available in nuclear shelters for the civilian population of Scotland; and what plans he has to increase the number.

Mr. Ross

It would not be realistic to plan primarily for protection against the direct effects of blast from nuclear weapons. Protection against fallout has been closely studied; and in an emergency the Government would give advice on how the public could best be protected.
