HC Deb 04 December 1968 vol 774 cc517-8W
Mr. Lubbock

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will sponsor research aimed at establishing the savings in public expenditure in the National Health Service, education, social security payments, and in housing, which will result from the provision of free family planning advice and free contraceptives by local authorities, taking into account the experience gained in other countries.

Mr. Ennals

My right hon. Friend is at present considering carrying out a survey next year to determine among other matters the extent of unmet need for family planning services, but he doubts whether a study of the kind suggested by the hon. Member would be practicable.
