HC Deb 04 December 1968 vol 774 cc502-3W
Mr. Stodart

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many priority categories of credit there are within the ceiling which has been imposed on banks; what these categories are; and in which of them agriculture has been placed.

Mr. Harold Lever

The priority categories of credit remain, as before, lending that will help the balance of payments, including lending for exports, invisible earnings or import-saving, such as agriculture. On lending for agriculture, I would refer the hon. Member to my reply on 29th November to a Question by the hon. Member for North Angus and Mearns (Mr. Buchanan-Smith).-[Vol. 744, c. 201.]
