§ Mr. Neaveasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether, in view of the representations made to him by the hon. Member for Abingdon, he will take special steps to ensure that full consultation takes place with local bodies concerning the Reading and District Hospital Management Committee's proposals for the reorganisation of Wallingford hospital services.
§ Mr. EnnalsNow that these proposals have been considered by the Regional Hospital Board, they will be the subject of local consultation in the normal way.
§ Mr. Neaveasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will withhold his approval to the plans of Reading and District Hospital Management Committee for the reorganisation of hospital services until such time as he is satisfied that full local consultation has taken place; and whether he will appoint a senior official to attend such consultation at Wallingford.
§ Mr. EnnalsThe Regional Hospital Board are accustomed to carrying out such consultations themselves and in this case they will report the outcome to me before proceeding further.
