§ 82. Mr. Speedasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that the local authorities concerned have been adequately consulted about the proposal to transfer certain facilities from Nuneaton hospitals to the Coventry Hospital, Walsgrave; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. CrossmanThe extent of consultation with local authorities is a matter for Hospital Boards to decide in the light of their local knoweldge of the effect their proposals are likely to have on the services provided by the authorities.
§ Mr. Leslie Huckfieldasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what information he has received from the regional hospital board about proposals for the possible future transfer of other facilities from Nuneaton hospitals to the new Coventry Hospital at Walsgrave.
§ Mr. EnnalsI understand that the Birmingham Regional Hospital Board have approved the transfer of ear, nose and throat and ophthalmic in-patient services from Nuneaton to Coventry. The Board are not considering other transfers from Nuneaton.
