asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs, what is the present level of Capital Gains Tax in the Falkland Islands.

There is no Capital Gains Tax.

Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs what are the present rates of excise on tobacco, wines and spirits in the Falkland Islands.

Mr. Whitlock

There is no excise duty on tobacco, wines and spirits, but the following import tariffs apply:

Kingdom defence costs. The Gibraltar Government, however, make an annual contribution towards the costs of the Gibraltar Regiment, equivalent to 5s. 5d. per head of the population.
