HC Deb 29 April 1968 vol 763 c126W
77. Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he will specify the increases in the aggregate cost of Ministerial salaries which occurred between 6th April and 23rd April.

Mr. Harold Lever

The increase in the aggregate cost of Ministerial salaries between 6th April and 23rd April was £28,500. This increase is attributable to the appointment of the following Ministers on 8th April—Secretary of State for Education and Science, Lord Privy Seal, and Secretary of State for Wales, each at a salary of £8,500 a year; and the appointment of an Assistant Government Whip on 10th April at a salary of £3,000 a year.

I regret that the total salary figure of £613,850 given in the answer to the hon. Member for Wembley, North should have been £605,350.—[Vol. 763, c. 17.]
