asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many beds are available under the National Health Service for patients under 60 years of age suffering from long-term illness and disability who therefore require permanent nursing care; and what is the size of the waiting list for these beds.

In April, 1967, 4,223 younger chronic sick patients were accommodated in National Health Service hospitals and contractual beds. There were 664 persons on waiting lists.
