HC Deb 11 April 1968 vol 762 cc315-6W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister of Labour whether as a means of successfully implementing the Government's wages, prices and incomes policy, she will in drafting her forthcoming legislation, provide that no retail price, rent, rate, fare, fuel, or other price or commodity will be allowed to rise above 3½ per cent. during the next 12 months.

Mr. Hattersley

No. The Government are determined to deal firmly with any unjustifiable increases in prices but we have made it clear that increases in incomes need to be kept more in line with the expected growth of national output and prevented from rising with the cost of living.

Mr. Fernyhough

At 11th March, 1968, the unemployment percentage rates for Great Britain were 0.8 for married women and 1.1 for all women.
