§ Mr. Juddasked the Minister of Social Security what requests have been submitted to her for Governmental support for a national survey of poverty; what replies she has sent; and whether she will make a statement.
§ Mrs. HartI have had no requests for assistance from the organisers of the proposed national survey by the London School of Economics and Essex University nor have I had any correspondence on the subject. My predecessor was asked whether the Ministry's staff could undertake some 10,000 initial inter-334W views, and whether she would sponsor work by the Government Social Survey. It was not found possible to meet these requests in view of heavy pressure on the Ministry's staff and the commitments of the Government Social Survey. She arranged, however, that the Ministry should make available information to help with a study of the disabled which was a subsidiary aspect of the survey.
