HC Deb 11 April 1968 vol 762 c323W
Mr. Colin Jackson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement about the resumption of diplomatic relations with Mali, Congo (Brazzaville), Mauritania and Algeria.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

I am pleased to say that diplomatic relations were resumed on the 10th of April with Mali, Congo-Brazzaville, Mauritania and Algeria. Pending the exchange of Ambassadors, the Heads of the Interests Section in Algiers and London respectively have become Chargés d'Affaires; and in the case of the other countries, where Interests Sections do not exist, the Protecting Powers have been asked to continue temporarily to carry out the functions which they have generously performed hitherto.
