HC Deb 10 April 1968 vol 762 c256W
Mr. Younger

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has had from the tourist industry concerning the future development of tourism in Scotland; and what reply he has sent.

Dr. Mabon

The Scottish Tourist Board made representations to my right hon. Friend in December, and in February I had a full and cordial discussion with representatives of the Board, in the course of which I assured them that the Government were actively considering the future organisation of tourism.

Mr. Monro

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what advice he has received from the regional consultative groups about encouraging the tourist industry.

Dr. Dickson Mabon

The regional consultative groups have discussed the tourist potential of their areas, and I fully expect them to make recommendations to the Scottish Economic Planning Council when the various planning studies of their respective areas are complete.
