Mr. Maurice Macmillan

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, why, in view of his previous policy on this matter, he has made further cuts in the allocations to Surrey County Education Authority for the 1967–68 school building programme.

Miss Bacon

No such cuts have been made.

Mr. Maurice Macmillan

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what will be the effect of his new cuts in the funds allocated to Surrey County Council for the remainder of the 1967–68 school building programme on the projects at Heath End County Secondary School, the new Hale County Infants' School, Weydon County Primary School, Yeoman's Bridge County Secondary School, South Ash County Junior School, Rodborough County Secondary School, Milford, Weybourne County Primary School and Hale County Primary School, respectively, in view of his previous policy.

Miss Bacon

The position remains as stated in the Answers given by my right hon. Friend's predecessor to the hon. Member's Questions on 23rd and 24th January, 1968. The proposals which the Surrey Local Education Authority have made for starts in 1968–69 are being examined and we shall be letting them know as soon as possible which projects may go ahead.—[Vol. 757: c.98 and 143–4.]
