HC Deb 10 April 1968 vol 762 c247W
47. Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many children in Scottish schools were receiving part-time education at the latest date for which figures are available; what percentage of this total related to Glasgow school children; and what were the comparable totals and percentages in the same month of 1967, 1966, 1965 and 1964, respectively.

Mr. Millan

On 22nd March, the number was 6,407 of whom 64 per cent. (4,118) were in Glasgow.

Comparable figures for the same month in recent years are:

Scotland Glasgow Glasgow as percentage of the whole
Per cent.
1967 5,069 3,487 69
1965 4,862 4,760 98
1964 2,616 2,453 94

The figure for Scotland as a whole is not readily available for March, 1966, when 2,611 school children in Glasgow were receiving part-time education.
