§ Mr. Albert Robertsasked the Minister of Power what is the estimated average annual cost to the domestic consumer of the conversion to North Sea Gas.
§ Mr. FreesonThe total cost to the gas industry of conversion will average £30 per domestic consumer. The annual cost 285W to the industry will depend on the period over which the capital cost can be written off and the rates of interest charged from time to time.
The cost of conversion will be wholly offset by cost savings from the introduction of North Sea gas; but it does, as the N.B.P.I. have said, operated against major reductions in price in the short term.
