HC Deb 10 April 1968 vol 762 c282W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that the police in the London Borough of Newham in conjunction with the local council summonsed 248 motorists last year for leaving derelict cars on the roads, that over 100 vehicles were towed away and demolished and that in the first three months of the current year 45 motorists have been summonsed for this offence; and to what extent the other boroughs in the Metropolitan Police area have taken, or will take similar action to remove these dangerous eyesores from the roads.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

My inquiries do not confirm the figures in the first part of my hon. Friend's Question. I am not in a position to answer the second, but I am bringing it to the notice of my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport.
