asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he will take to improve the opportunities for employment in the Civil Service in Scotland.

Mr. Harold Lever

The establishment of the Post Office Savings Bank at Glasgow has improved these opportunities and will continue to do so; the build-up of staff there will reach a total of 5,500 in 1976. Scotland is considered wherever practicable as a location for new or transferred Government work.
