HC Deb 10 April 1968 vol 762 c265W
68. Mr. Deedes

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what further Departmental consideration has been given to the Brambell Committee report; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Cledwyn Hughes

The Government's decisions on the recommendations in the Brambell Report were announced in a statement to the House on 5th August, 1966. These decisions form the basis of the animal welfare provisions in Part I of the Agriculture (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill now before Parliament.

The Brambell Report forms an important part of the background to the work of the Farm Animal Welfare Advisory Committee, which my right hon. Friends appointed last year, and to our consideration of animal welfare matters generally.
