HC Deb 10 April 1968 vol 762 cc247-8W
49. Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, what further consideration he has given to the most effective means of settling the rival claims of agriculture and forestry to the use of land: and what is to be the role of the Highlands and Islands Development Board in this within its area.

Mr. Ross

I see no reason to alter the present arrangements under which the Forestry Commission consults my Department of Agriculture on proposed acquisitions. The Board is now associated with the joint forestry/agriculture surveys in the Highlands carried out by the Commission and my Department.
