HC Deb 09 April 1968 vol 762 cc223-4W
Mr. Hobden

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what was the amount and number of rate rebates given to Brighton ratepayers in each year since the passage of the 1966 Rates Act; and how this compares with the relief given under the Interim (Rating Relief) Act, 1964.

Mr. Skeffington

In 1966–67 rate rebates in Brighton amounted to £98,773; there were 4,100 recipients in the first half of the year and 4,521 in the second. Figures for 1967–68 for all areas are being collected and will be published as soon as possible.

Relief under the 1964 Act amounted to £3,216 for the three years 1964–65 to 1966–67.
