HC Deb 09 April 1968 vol 762 c235W
Mr. Kirk

asked the Secretary of State for Defence why Parliament was neither informed nor consulted on the Government's decision, made in June, 1967, to construct a new Anglo-American radar installation, with bearing on methods of early warning of missile attacks, at Orfordness in Suffolk.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The hon. and gallant Member for Eye (Sir H. Harrison), whose constituency is affected, was informed in August, 1967, of the proposal to build the research station and afterwards a public announcement was made.
