§ Mrs. Ewingasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether a final decision on the location of the headquarters of the Meat and Livestock Commission will be made by May, 1968.
§ Mr. RossI understand that the Commission is announcing its decision today. I am naturally disappointed that it has not felt able to locate its main offices in Scotland. The Chairman has, however, assured me that the Commission will establish a sizeable and meaningful Scottish headquarters under the direction of a chief officer for Scotland who will have responsibilities matching the importance which the Commission attaches to this post. The Chairman has also undertaken to consider locating at the Scottish headquarters other sections of the Commission's activities which can be undertaken away from the Commission's main offices.
