It is not possible to assess how many days of industrial sickness have been saved by the work of the Industrial Hygiene Division or the Factory Inspectorate. The total number of days lost annually is about one million; the number quoted by my hon. Friend includes industrial injuries. I am satisfied that the Industrial Hygiene Laboratory Service is making a useful contribution to industrial health.
