HC Deb 04 April 1968 vol 762 c143W
Mrs. Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many computer units produced by British firms have been installed by universities in Great Britain in recent years, and how many by United States-controlled firms; and what Government grants are available for this purpose.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

Since the Computer Board for Universities and Research Councils was set up in 1966 there have been 16 major computer installations in university institutions in Great Britain. Fourteen were British, and the others American. Information about smaller departmental machines installed is not available.
