HC Deb 04 April 1968 vol 762 cc127-8W
35. Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

asked the Postmaster General, if he will take steps to exempt retirement pensioners from proposed increases in telephone rentals: and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Joseph Slater

My right hon. Friend hopes to make a statement on Post Office charges in the near future. He has much sympathy with pensioners and others, but cannot undertake to exempt them from any increases in telephone charges. Concessionary charges by the Post Office would not be an appropriate way to deal with this.
