HC Deb 04 April 1968 vol 762 c128W
36. Sir C. Osborne

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what further action he proposes to take to deal with crimes of violence, in view of the Chief Constable of Hertford's annual report stating that armed robberies and the use of violence in crime are increasing, and that gangs of criminals have resorted to the use of guns, pick-axe handles, knives and ammonia when carrying out large-scale raids.

Mr. Taverne

In dealing with this problem the police will be much assisted by recent legislative provisions about firearms, offensive weapons and shotguns and by the use of improved equipment and the spread of new methods of policing.
