HC Deb 04 April 1968 vol 762 c136W
Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what are the specific duties of each of the eight counsellors and nine first secretaries employed in the chancery of Her Majesty's Embassy, Washington.

Mr. Mulley

These officers are engaged in political work, their responsibilities being allocated flexibly in the light of the particular tasks which present themselves.

The Embassy is subjected to regular inspections in accordance with established practice and one such inspection has just been completed. The inspectors' recommendations are now under consideration.
